Powerleague Colts FC were awarded the FA Charter Standard award this year. The FA have been actively running a campaign for the last 12 months to encourage Clubs to achieve higher standards in how their clubs are run. Powerleague Colts believe every club involved in training and developing young footballers should be striving towards gaining the FA Charter Standard award.
At this seasons presentation night, held at Fletton Ex-servicemens club, representatives from Hunts FA presented the award to Powerleague Colts Chairman, Duane Baker.

What is the FA charter Standard award?

Background

The FA Charter Standard Club Programme was established in February 2001 to provide
recognition that clubs are well run, sustainable, with child protection and safety
paramount. It also recognises the club’s commitment to coaching, player and coach
development and the raising of standards of behaviour in the game. The Football
Development Strategy 2001-2006 highlighted the importance of club development and
of the need to develop a more effective Club structure. It stated that ‘The Football
Association must support clubs who have the potential to develop a number of teams,
providing ‘football for all’ and ‘football for life’.’

Criteria

The FA, in conjunction with various bodies, has drawn up the following set of criteria for clubs wishing to reach Charter Standard:

1. A written constitution
2. FA CRB checked volunteers
3. All managers to have minimum of FA Level 1 Coaching Course
4. Commitment to attend in-service training
5. Acceptance and promotion of Codes of Conduct
6. Commitment to provide Mini-Soccer opportunities for Under 10s
7. Commitment to promote schools liaison and equal opportunities for all
